Hello there. I am confused about whether I have hybrid teas or floribundas in the garden. You have kindly helped me identify a shrub rose at the base of the rockery. Would the following be a floribunda? It's about 5-6 foot tall. thank you in advance.

...it may be a floribunda but it could be listed as a modern shrub.... it's down to the breeder of the rose to designate which category it belongs, so without knowing the name of your rose I cannot be sure.... if it's a rose bred by David Austin for instance, then it would be classed as an English rose shrub, as that's the term they use and is internationally recognised...

...a floribunda rose typically is a cluster flowered rose, as yours is, with a group of blooms clustered together... hybrid tea roses typically have one large bloom per stem, although sometimes 2 or 3...and have high centred buds...

do you know the name of your rose? or where it was bought? I wouldn't know on this one...

Hi there, thank you. I have no idea. The garden is big and the previous owners planted around 25 roses. I don't know the names or types or where they were bought image Just trying to work it all out now as I want to get some more. Roses are so wonderful. They could be David Austin? Thank you so much for identifying the Ballerina shrub. I don't think this  one though is a shrub because it is tall? If you have any idea of the name please let me know.

Do you have experience with David Austin Roses? Which one is better - Classicroses (Peter Beales) or David Austin in your opinion? Or does it not matter where you get them from?

...I order from both those suppliers, plus a number of others.   It depends who happens to have the rose I want, when I want it, I've rarely had a bad rose sent through the mail.  You can order from either, with confidence.

    ..enjoy your roses....
