How to look after Agave Americana Marinata Variegata
in Plants

Hi, excuse the slightly distorted photo, but is anyone growing one of these, if so can you share some advice on how best to look after it please. I've just repotted this one in mixed compost and grit and included a couple of handfuls of multipurpose fertiliser. looking on line for advice I read it was best to plant it within a plastic pot As they quickly become root bound and may have to be smashed out of the pot ?
Also the watering procedure sounds a bit daunting too. I love the look of the plant but I'm now concerned about the care of it ????
Any advice is welcome, thanks

Plastic pots are best, they do become rootbound. Water well in summer, likes full sun, , keep on the dry side in winter and frost free. They are supposed to tolerate a few degrees of frost, but one I left in the ground turned to mush over winter.
Thanks fidgetbones I appreciate your advice.????
Great philippa smith2
thanks for your advice, I have had them in our garage all winter which I will do again this Autumn, I'm glad you mentioned the benefit of the clay pots I think they look nicer in them, I think I will cover the soil with stones to help with drainage and think they will look more tropical,
thanks again????
Thanks for the extra pointers Philippa smith2 that's great and I would love to accept your offer of a baby medico pica that's very kind of you.
