More Questions
With the help from Darren on this forum, I think I have finally sussed how to turf my garden.
However, there were a couple more things that I need help with.
Basically, this is a picture of how the garden will hopefully look (see below). In one corner we are having loose slate (where our bench, chiminea etc will sit), so should I just lay the loose slate on top the top soil?

Also, we are putting a shed in the opposite corner, so again, do I just construct the base on top of the top soil?
Lastly, we are putting a swing in for our daughter, so would it be best to cement into the ground before I lay the turf?
Thanks in advance!

You might prefer a ground sheet underneath the slate to help prevent weeds and also it can help prevent soil polluting/mixing with the slate.
What base do you have for your shed? Personally I always use concrete slabs (straight on the top soil) to sit it on. If your base is wood (treated or otherwise) it won't take very long to rot away.
Finally, as for the swing; ours has spikes that stick into the ground to stop movement. I'd think you might regret cement when you come to remove it but, of course, safety comes first so it really depends on the swing you have. If you do cement it, it's probably easier to dig a hole through turf than to lay turf around an object, obviously give the turf time to establish before you start using it.
Thanks very much Bob, that's really helpful
