Unusual boundary

lovegardenslovegardens Posts: 85

Does anyone else have this unusual boundary setup where next door garage forms part of the boundary it seems strange to me. Since I can't use the wall incase of damage as it isn't mine what would you all do?

Why not hve a chat with the neighbour and get permission to do something with it?  I asked mine and she was happy for me to paint her wall.  I suspect making holes in it might be a different matter, but I'm sure it's possible.

Maybe grow a fruit tree on it and give them some of the produce?

    Thank you both for replies,

Steve I'm not sure I'd have the nerve for that.

I did think about building a new fence but I'd have to leave enough space for them to access for repairs and since it's only a small garden that would take a fair bit away

You could put some posts in and screw trellis to it, then plant some climbers, if they ever need to do any work on it, all you have to do is unscrew the panels and lean them carefully forward.

Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

I would prob go for some planters with attached trellis or tall plants in big pots.

As long as the works you are doing are not going to interfere with the structural integrity of the wall then there is no reason you cant screw into the wall. Section 2 of the Party Wall Act.

No different then hanging a picture on a party wall in a house.

If you wanted - you could build a pergola or garage using this wall.

Thank you plant pauper I'm not going to use that garage wall in any way I'd rather stay clear of any problems. I am new t the area and don't know the garage owner as although they are a direct neighbour they are in a different street.

The fact that this house is so called "semi detached" is laughable as my old terraced house was far superior in terms of layout and privacy. Nevermind just make the best of things image
