My old apple tree is just starting to bud and show green I don't expect blossom yet.

Same here but I know the reason in my case - squirrels have eaten all of the blossom buds.  Some birds will also do this, particularly woodpigeons and bullfinches.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

mine have usually started but are slow this year due to the recent cold snap, leaves just about out, will probably have to wait bit longer for the flowers, maybe when temperature gets bit higher later in the week

  • Blossom seems late this year. I'm in Surrey and the blackthorn has only just blossomed - it's usually the first out - and the cherry's still thinking about it. Also my forsythia flowered in April (usually Feb).

Here's hoping for a long late summer image
