Pear Tree Disease

Last year my pear tree developed some sort of disease which I can't positively identify. Initially the fruit developed a black sort of fungus on the skin.  Eventually the skin cracked up into almost segment like sections and were completely inedible.  I lost a a large branch during the winter which seemed to have gone rotten.  The tree is looking fairly healthy at the moment with lots of blossom..  Grateful for any help in identifying the problem and necessary treatment.
