    Another myth is that they don't flower the same year they are split.

    Most of those I split last year , flowered well.

    Going to go and have a look now at the type. So shall I put more than one in a pot? Might take a pic whilst I'm out there !!!

    depends how big the plants are, and how big the pot is.

    Personally I'd not mix different varieties in the same pot.

    African lily is the common name for all agapanthus.

    Oh you are precise Hostafan1 - cramped or snug - it works! Incidentally my area is very heavy pot making agricultural clay so all the variables for this need to consider soil and what the conditions are.  I do hope you all enjoy growing and keeping this gorgeous plant.

    Donna , forgive me but there's a gulf between " snug" and "really cramped"

    I'd say snug is roots happily at the edge of the pot, "really cramped" sounds like no more room left.

    But I'm happy to agree to disagree and just grow them.

    I am very forgiving by nature Hostafan1! Just ask the agapanthus......
