My first thought too was Bupleurum but can seen it isn't because of the leaves. It was bugging me too as I was sure I'd seen something similar. Do you think it could be a Smyrnium?
I had no intention of hijacking this thread, but the leaves of my invasive plant do look almost identical to the lower leaves of mystery plant.
Pulling up Garlic mustard is pointless it just regrows from the tap root I doubt I'll ever get rid of it completely so the caterpillars can still much away

Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.
I'll go and look at mine, but mine is just the species, not yellow like that and might not help. That plant has often been confused with euphorbia on a casual glance and I can see how that could happen with this one.
Thank you sleuths, you are right, that's it! It likes shade, and what do I not have very much of in my garden? You guessed. I'm still going to buy some seed and see how I get on with it.

Hi Again
I've just seen Pete8's post I think his plans are Garlic Mustard. A wildflower or a weed depending on your take on things
Yes, that's a bit confusing when new plants appear in an ID thread
Just pull them up or off, no need to use chemicals.
Save a few, they're food for the orange tip butterfly larvae

Mobow, I think you could be right with Smyrnium.
S.perfoliatum looks very like it. What do you think, Nut?

been to look. It didn't help at all, but I think you've probably got the ID there with Smyrnium
