Combination shed/greenhouse
Hi all, I am just about to realise a dream of having my very own greenhouse. There is a problem though (isn't there always!) we want to put it in the same place as a really old and rotting shed in our north and very slightly east facing garden. This is the first time that I have gardened in a north facing garden and am worried that there may not be enough sun to make a greenhouse viable? First problem: If I were to get one, where would be the best place: the shed we are going to replace is half way down a 70 long garden. It has a reasonable amount of light/sun for a lot of the day so far.
Second consideration: I would like it to retain some shed to house the electrics that are in the old shed so thought a shed greenhouse combi would fit the bill.
Has anyone else got one of these and does it work well?
It is a lot of money to spend on something if indeed at the end of the day it will not do the intended job of housing my seeds, cuttings, tomatoes etc.
And lastly, can anyone recommend a good brand. I have visited all the garden centres near me and not come up with one as yet.
Thank you and I look forward to your comments and any experiences to help guide me to a good purchase and positioning of this project.

You'll find more possibilities online than in local suppliers and can compare sizes and prices more easily. Have a look at this site - http://www.heritagegardensheds.co.uk/prods/greenhouse-shed-combination.html

I'd have thought it would be fine where you have existing electricity for light and maybe heat in winter. You can always paint or stain the shed part to make it less obtrusive or a feature, according toy your taste.
The best advice is to get the biggest you can afford and have space for. It will fill up faster than you think. Keep the windows clean to maximise light and get some bubble wrap to insulate in winter. Have fun.
Hello Potty Lotty. The ridge of your greenhouse should run east to west to optimise the available sunlight. If you talk to an electrician I'm sure that you could give up the shed altogether and transfer the electrical points into your new green house. I bought my greenhouse from Elite greenhouses but then I live in the north and was able to go and look at them. They do sell online - I think - and I have been very satisfied with mine. I do wish you all success in your search.
Thanks folks for your tips, busy looking at all available, so much to choose from! Pottyx
Hi again, has anyone bought from Heritage garden sheds? They look great and the blurb very convincing but we thought testamonials and reviews would be so useful.
Thank you, Potty L
