Hi there, does anyone know what this is? It's messy, driving me mad, and growing outside the border into the grass too!

Phalaris arundinacea, probably the variety 'Picta'.... rather invasive I'm afraid...
Well, I've just dug it out - and a load of couch grass from the same border, too. Argh, this border was a real mess! The only good is that I had to enlarge the border to get rid of this where it was growing into the lawn - so more room for something new
Agree with Marlorena.
I grow it by my pond, but is very invasive, and needs careful control.
