Pieris brown not pink!

Does anyone know the cause of this? Our pieris usually has lovely pink tips this time of year but this year they are brown and crispy.

Frost, wind? Probably not drought this spring unless they're in a pot and have been underwatered.
The new growth was fierce red 2 days ago- almost on fire.
Now its all brown and black
managed to post pic.
Looks like frost damage to me. It doesn't take much, just a degree or so of extra cold will do it.
Pinch out those brown bits gently with your fingers, prune out dead brown twiggy bits and stems with good, sharp secateurs and then give you plant a generous drink of sequestered iron and a mulch of ericaceous compost. It will recover and produce new shoots a bit late.
Thanks Obelixx I will try that ?
