Thank you for all your advice and feedback I think the first batch I brought I noticed the leaves were dieing of quickly I did not water any differently than before but I do think now that it is to do with the coldness. Long shot could the batch I have brought had a disease.
I noticed the tomato plants (which are also fairly tender) at the well known DIY store yesterday looked rather bedraggled & not at all healthy. The growers bring these tender plants on under such artificially warm & light conditions that they often DIE of shock at such extreme temperatures outside
