Maddiemoo, the "gifts" put me off of buying this issue. I hate clutter and I hate the idea of chucking away seeds (I don't need or want any of those offered), so I decided to save the money and bought a lovely wallflower in a GC instead.
Science club planted my seeds. After others on the forum have had so much success thought I would let them have the packet. We were planting pips etc. Only regular multipurpose compost, 4 have germinated so far and took about the same time as the honeydew melon.
I've just bought my copy, sold as a "Sainsburys Value Pack". It cost £5.99 but this included the gloves, which fit my (female) hands very well, and by a happy coincidence also feature one left and one right hand, which is what I happen to have, so that's good. I also got six packets of seeds, most of which I can use.
But best of all this month - and I think this applies to all including subscription versions - is the 2-for-1 garden entrance card, with its directory of gardens where you can use it. This includes the Eden Project, Kew, and over 400 other gardens, and is reusable for a whole year. If you ever visit gardens, this is a real bargain, with or without globes of dubious suitability.
I wish it was a half-price card instead. I tend to travel on my own, so a 2-for-1 entry is useless for me. Sadly, while there are lots of 2-for-1 offers like that, no one ever thinks to offer a discount to the single traveller.
Some of the gardens (166 of the 400, they say) do offer the alternative of a half-price single entry. Seems fair enough to do this - many single people have less spare cash than couples.
Regarding the value pack magazines: while the offer at Tesco, Sainsbury's and Waitrose is for readers who haven’t subscribed, subscribers will always receive exclusive offers, opportunities, access to the Secret Garden and invites to subscriber-only events, which aren't available to non-subscribed readers. The gloves and seeds aren’t free gifts, they’re a part of a special value pack, which costs £5.99, while the magazine alone costs £4.50. Each store has the option to buy the value pack or the magazine alone.
Tomato seeds: Really sorry to hear that some of you aren’t getting the germination results we normally expect - we’ve now had several reports of the same issue. If you've had poor results, could you please drop T&M an email at [email protected] with details of the environment you grew your seeds in and the compost used. Please can you also send your full name and postal address.

Thanks for the responses, am heartened to learn it was Tesco,s selling 'landfill' (as usual).not GW, will enjoy buying my GW elsewhere in future.

Sainsbury's claimed that it was an exclusive edition too Jason

I realise I wrote "globes" instead of "gloves". Apologies. Whether your globes are suitable or not is an entirely private matter.

Green Magpie, is the Eden project one of them, do you know?
