Feedback from BBC about GW being cancelled

TootlesTootles Posts: 1,469

hello

i sent an email to the BBC about GW but cancelled and received quite a nice response. One hour trials - yippppee! In case anyone wants to read here it is:

Thanks for getting in touch about Gardeners’ World. We appreciate that you’re frustrated with the scheduling of the current series, particularly the interruptions due to live sporting events.

We’d like to assure you that Gardeners' World is an important part of the BBC Two schedule and we do try to minimise these disruptions. That said, our commitment to live sport coverage, which is also enjoyed by BBC Two viewers, does mean our schedule is occasionally subject to change.

Two episodes of Gardeners’ World have made way for the Snooker World Championship and the Golf Masters - both of which are time specific live events – but the overall number of programmes in the series will remain the same.

Gardeners’ World will be back next week, when Monty and the team will be at the RHS Malvern Spring Flower Show. In the meantime though, you can catch up with Monty for some specially filmed Jobs for the Weekend at www.bbc.co.uk/gardenersworld.

Thank you again for your feedback - it really is useful for our programme and scheduling teams to hear directly from viewers. For example, we’re trialling some special one-hour editions of Gardeners’ World later in the year after viewers told us that they’d like to see a longer show.

We hope we’ve been able to address your concerns and demonstrate that the BBC remains committed to Gardeners World.

Kind Regards

  • Oooooh!  One hour special edition episodes - how fantastic!!  Still would rather they didn't have to mess with the time slot for sport though - I don't know why they couldn't use BBC 4, that's generally has nowt on! image

Well my garden lasts 12 months a year not a few forgettable weeks of men poking balls with sticks. Is snooker really a 'sport'?image

I had a mis-spent youth myself but I'd rather see GW.

Come to think of it I've probably mis-spent most of my life image

Oh for heaven's sake.  We've had one hour specials before on GW and the regular veiwers have been delighted and said so so why a "trial"?   Why can't they just make every show and hour long from the start of the season?

I don't know why the BBC doesn't show the sport on BBC 4 and we can have GW every Friday on 2. They did have one hour programmes a few years ago during the summer months, which was much better.

  • I'd settle for a 40 minute episode with less fluff, to be honest.
