Dorset Perennials

Picked up my first order from Dorset Perennials earlier this week - very happy with my very healthy and vigorous set of youngsters! (17 of them!)

I added to my order online on the morning I picked them up and they had them ready for me when I picked up at 11am - great going.

As suspected, they're not really set up at present for visitors and definitely not shoppers, though - in fact I had to ask the local postie where they were, as there wasn't even a sign! At least I'll now be able to find them easily next time image

  • Great place!, I've never been disappointed with anything I have bought from them. If you live around that area, they are likely to have a stall at the plant fair at Athelhampton this comiing Sunday (30th April). It's a good time to pick up unusual plants there.

  • Oh, that looks interesting Nutcracker - not sure if I'll be able to convince OH to come with me though, we're supposed to be spending the weekend doing lounge renovations (and our village has a plant sale on the Saturday I want to nip off to as well....)

  • I'm helping at a local plant sale tomorrow morning, just rounding up my contributions and labelling them; now it's stopped sleeting I can go and rescue a few more!  We're digging up our terrible front lawn this weekend ready to returf on Tuesday so hoping the showers will stay away. We also have a plant sale on Sat morning in the town hall, will of course consider everything very carefully and will try not to impulse buy !! Last year I bought something labelled "purple spires, likes shade". It turned out to be purple loosestrife which is mega-invasive. I spent an afternoon this week digging it all out again! image

  • Eeep, sounds like you have a busy weekend ahead too! Good luck with the returfing - we filled in our huge pond a few weeks back and turfed the area, lordy it was hard work. Weather was fine on the day, but it had rained so hard the day before that the ground was still really boggy. Hope you have better conditions!

I shouldn't really buy any more plants at the mo as I'm still seeing what's coming up in the garden right now (only been here since September) - plus I appear to have bought a new sofa today, whoops! Am sure just one or two won't make much difference though.....
