Help! I think my plants are dying!

I've.just been in the garden and noticed that my fatsia japonica which I planted just about 3 weeks ago-ish, looks like it's dying back!!  It had a couple of new leaves coming through when I bought it and it was all very healthy looking, then a couple of days after I planted  it, I watered it with a solution oh phosphragen  including the leaves.  I thought maybe it was too young to tolerate the solution as the new leaves died off, but now I noticed the other leaves are turning yellow and one has a brown mark like it's dying.  I also planted a hebe which is  looking a bit sad, so I've watered them all thoroughly with just water today in the hope they will pick back up.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what may have happened please

I also have a couple of yuccas which I had in pots and were getting rather yellow and a tachycarpus palm, which was also in a pot.  I have just removed them from the pots and found they were totally root bound...so much so I couldn't get them out of the pots without a fight!!  They are now going in the ground but I wonder what would be good to feed the poor neglected things on?

Thanks in advance xxxx

  • Thanks for that....I haven't been watering a lot as we have had quite a bit of rain but the soil is almost sandy here so dries out fairly quickly.  I do use FB&B or just bonemeal  depending on what I have in at the time of planting.  The plant was outside at the garden centre but we've had very mild weather lately so the recent cold snap could be the cause I suppose.  I shall watch with bated breath! LOL.

I shall report back as the season progresses mLOL

Thank you for that advice Verdun image
