Alnwick gardens have a lovely orchard especially planted for the blossom. It's under planted with tulips. You could telephone the gardens to see what stage these seasonal features are at. All the other suggestions are good too...it is a smashing area but I'm biased, certainly well worth having a holiday in the area...you could go plodging in the North Sea haha.
When you get to Edinburgh don't forget the Royal Botanic Garden which is just stunning .... rhododendrons and azaleas out just now .... loads of lovely trilliums & epimediums ... and the rock garden is just lovely.
If you are there on Sunday 8th May they have the annual plant fair!
Gardener and beekeeper in beautiful Scottish Borders
A single bee creates just one twelfth of a teaspoon of honey in her lifetime
If you are into trees the Howick Hall a couple of miles inland from Craster and not far from Alnwick has the best private collection of trees in the UK, bar none. As a bonus if you like kippers, Craster kippers are world famous.

Warkworth and Bamburgh castles are worth a visit too, as are Holy Island (Lindisfarne) and the Farne Islands.
i really really want to go to lindisfarne but we just won't have time. We'll have to go next year.
Oh yes Lindisfarne is wonderful, a haunting atmosphere
