Any ideas

I am renovating my bungalow and the garden is the last thing to do. There is an area at the front which is east facing that i intend to create a new bed. I can find lists on various plants on different sites that like that position so that will give me a start. However when i have been weeding the area in the corner, it will be an L-shaped bed, is noticeably colder and wetter soil than the rest. Any idea for a shrub that will cope with that ? I would like something evergreen but that also has pretty flowers. I enjoy gardening but do not have as much knowledge as a lot of people on this site and could do with your help please
