To fleece or not to fleece?

Hello everyone,

I planted a Jubilee plum a couple of years ago. Blossom right now, promise of a first crop image. It's supposed to go down to 1*C several times next week. I did fleece it once last week (predicted 1*C) as I was too scared to loose them and didn't have time to ask the experts! So, should i fleece it? Sorry if it'a stupid question, I don't know how low the temperature can go before damaging the blossom.

Thank you

I agree with Pansyface. I follow her principled principle for my pear and my fig - not to mention my flowering goosegogs.

But I did fleece the frogspawn last week (embarrassed smiley ).

  • Thanks guys! I did scare my husband last week with a weird white shape at the back of the garden... I think the neighbours already know I'm crazy as I open windows and clap my hands everytime I see a pigeon in the garden! (But that's for another thread... "I need help..." perhaps image)

    pansyface, brilliant! image

I'm not fleecing my plum and apricot trees this year, because it's their first season - I reckon that I'll find that way if any fruits set (without fleecing) and if not, well, I'd have removed most of the fruit anyway this first season, so nothing lost.
