Tales from AT idea may 2016 GW

I think Alan Titchmarsh has a great idea! In this months GW magazine. To leave Trug/baskets in the garden to use for the odd weed or cutting, which saves trundling off to the compost heap with the odd handful every time, just take when the basket gets fuller. I'm going to use a couple of old wicker hanging baskets.

I normally have a 2 handled 25L pot loitering for just that purpose.

I'm not posh enough for a trug, I use a black plastic bucket.

Just have to keep reminding myself to take out my trowel and secateurs before I tip it into the bin.

Haha AT said just that! he had to hunt through the compost looking for his trowel and secateurs.image more than once.

If my weeds have a bit of soil on the roots I can normally throw them hard enough to reach the compost bin or the wheelbarrow image

I was thinking on the lines of when just having a walk round (as you do) having to pick out weeds etc. Not bringing the barrow out of the shed, also something a bit nicer than an old bucket to be left out round the garden. I do have have old buckets with displays in and around the garden.

It was on the inner back page of Gardeners World magazine, A.Ts usual and finally Tales from Titchmarsh, they are usually light hearted and amusing.
