Last year the plums suffered I need to spray them before too much growth what is the best insecticide to use to stop the 'rot'

Hello sorry I was a bit obscure with my request. The plums where covered in white postures and shrivelled up to small brown over ripe fruits and were covered in fly. I am sure I read that you need to spray them at about the time you first noticed the blight the previous year.
