Tomatoes

I have grown tomato seed from a particularly lovely tomato that I bought from a supermarket, they were growing on a vine.  Have any of you done this, and has it worked? Every seed has germinated and I am going to grow them as cordons.  Any suggestions appreciated.

Regards

Tony

i've done it this year from a baby plum tomato, every seed seems to have grown into a seedling, i'm a bit over run with them tbh but haven't the heart to ditch any of them, i'll be interested to see what replies you get to this image

I don't buy seeds - I slice tomatoes up and lay them in the pots and just cover them over with peat - works for me.image

It's unlikely that they'll have tomatoes exactly like the one the seeds came from. It depends who their dad was, but it's fun to do. image

    What a brilliant idea, Landlubber!

I did it with Dattorino a few years back b y drying the seeds first as recommended. They germinated fine - but someone forgot to water them when I was away image.
