Which climber?

Hi all, I am a new member and have just started gardening. I live in a flat and share a garden but have two 'raised beds' which have salads and other veggies already growing. I would like help / advice about climbing flowers that I can have growing up outside my patio doors. The space is quite shaded and at the moment does not get direct sunlight but this might change as summer moves on. What are your suggestions or advice.

Many thanks

David

The sun will creep a little bit more in the coming weeks.

    Sounds like cold winter shade.

    Clematis alpina could work.

    Or a honeysuckle.

Based in Sussex, I garden to encourage as many birds to my garden as possible.

Logan - Hi and thank you. According to my neighbours, the sun will hit my wall at around 13:30 ish...

darren636 - Hi and thank you too.

Redwing - I have honeysuckle but it doesn't seem to like the shade. Perhaps as it gets warmer things will change.

I hate to recommend it, but ivy will be quite happy in semi shade and will be present all winter too. There are many variegated varieties so you don't have to stick with dark green. I have a very beautiful yellow edged variety that comes into its own when the hedge losese its leaves.
