Vine weevil grubs

B3B3 Posts: 27,503

When you pop a vine weevil grub, why does white stuff squirt out?

Can someone point me to a link?

When I googled it, I could only find watts to kill it. This is extremely laudable, but I am still curious.

I expect it's vine weevil blood!

Cos it's white. I'm pinky coloured. If you squished me pinky red stuff would squirt out. :-0

Indeed it is, and called hemolymph:

Thanks so much Bob. Just enough detail for me to cope with! The link  answered my supplementary questions too.

I will try this link for any more 'I wonder why...' thoughts that occur during mindless gardening tasksimage
