Lily Bargain

M FentM Fent Posts: 166

just nipped into big orange shed and bought 4 packs of 8 Lily of the Valley corns as they were reduced; they have started to grow some long white shoots. Having never grown them before is this normal? (Pic for reference to said shoots) and how deep to plant?

The brown woody bits are the roots and the longer white pieces are the new shoots. Plant just deeply enough so that those white shoots are at soil level and you should be fine  image

Brill, thankyou fairy. Some of the white shoots are growing downwards into the roots themselves; will they find their own way north?

I think it's a case of stick them in and see sometimes! As long as the roots have a good covering of soil and they don't get dried out, I don't think there will be much of a problem. The new shoots will find their way up  image
