Rhodohypoxis milloides claret
in Plants
I saw this little flower at Rosemoor on my way to a Cornwall holiday last year, and been looking for it in local nurseries / GCs ever since to no avail. I think I'll try to pick some up at the Harrogate flower show this Friday, but was wondering if anyone here had experience with propagating these.
Ultimately I'd like a nice swathe of these for a sunny front of border along a path, but don't have the cash to buy enough to make an immediate impact (at £3 each online). If I was to buy, lets say 10 any idea how long it would take (and how) to get a nice stock of 50 or so plants?

Never grown them but as they are herbaceous perennials they should split on either spring or autumn.
These plants are freely available in markets here and not that expensive - about €5 for a 10cm pot full of plants. I have a friend who buys them every year for his summer pots and tubs. However, they are not reliably hardy here and don't like winter wet so he doesn't keep them apart from a few that he squeezes into his unheated but large greenhouse.
Not sure how they'd cope assuming you're in Yorkshire. They'd need to be grown as alpines in very free draining soil in order to get them through winter.
And mice adore them!
