ground cover (hard landscape)

My daughter whose garden I look after has recently moved into a Victorian end of terrace with a small back yard on four levels.  It has a small raised bed, houses the two bins, and is where the dog is let out between walks. I would like suggestions for covering the ground which is concrete with a few bricks inset. we may have access to astro turf off cuts, but would that be suitable for cleaning up after the dog?
