lead label punch

Years ago my late father gave me his press for making lead labels. Basically similar to a letterhead stamp, you set the dial to the required letter, fed in a narrow strip of lead and pressed a lever which embossed the strip. A refinement was to put white paint into the letters to make them stand out. Thinking I would never need such  a thing myself in my (then) pocket sized garden, I foolishly gave it to a college. Now I have a large garden with numerous shrubs and trees requiring permanent labels, I could do with it!

Does anyone know if such a device is still made? I have searched the Net via Google, Amazon etc so far with no success.

    Hi all

Try flattening the end of spoons and invest in some metal stamps which can be made into permanant labels for the ground and look interesting

    Hi archiepem

The labels got me thinking as i had seen old forks and spoons with stamped names on at a fair.

Plenty of old forks and spoons at car bot sales
