Razor Hoe

Being a bit old fashioned, I've never been very impressed with gimmicky garden tools, but this (IMHO) is a real winner.

Those are used widely in Japan and the design is probably thousands of years old, so I wouldn't consider it gimmicky at all David.  Good price too.  image

I have one of these, it is the BEST present for the garden I've ever been given!  I use it every single time I'm out there.

Promise you won't regret it, doc.....I've cleared a patch of creeping buttercup with mine that would have been a real pain without it.

Mine is a right-handed version, so I imagine they make left-handed versions too...given the blade action it would be important to choose the right one.

    Looks good.  I hope that's G  & T in the jug.

This is also an excellent hoe - the best I've ever used, especially if the soil is light or already well-cultivated.  Not sure that it'd cope with a compacted clay soil though.

I have an old fashioned, long handled, narrow blade onion hoe ( cost £3 second hand.) I have sharpened the blade with a file and a grit stone and find it perfect for dealing with large and small weeds.
