container grown potatoes

peteSpeteS Posts: 966

After watching a recent programme of Gardeners World I've decided to try and grow some potatoes in a container having never done it before. But the bags I ordered online are smaller than I imagined (8 litres) with the the instruction of one tuber per bag. Has anyone had experience of growing potatoes in such a small bag or would I be better off with a bigger bag. Many thanks.

I'm growing mine in old 50l compost bags with 2 in each. Had I more compost, I'd only have one in each.

Your bags do seem very small.

Never thought to use old compost bags. I've a few 25ltr ones lying around. I might use them instead. In fact I might do a Gardeners World type comparison test and place a tuber in both the 8ltr and 25ltr bags and compare the results.
