Asparagus worry

While we were away end of March, early April our asparagus started to come up.....about 3 weeks ago. When we arrived home the house sitter had no idea it was there and I cut down 70 plants that had grown about waist high. We ate the tops and made soup with the rest. Another 30 spears were harvested at the same time. Since then we have been cutting spears but it appears as if the plants have slowed right down. My questions are:

Should I stop cutting and let the bed go for now

Should I continue to cut and stop in another 2-3 weeks?

Has this harmed the plant's growth and will they suffer and not produce next year?

The bed has been producing for 4 years now and normally we have tons to eat. I am very worry damage may have been done. Any advice/help appreciated!

I don't think I'd worry too much Ken, the weather is probably the reason it's slowed down. It's been warm/cool with no sustained warm spell. Asparagus is tough plant and weather is more often than not the reason for variations in cropping.
