Gravelling
Hiya I have just had 3 tons of gravel delivered for my back garden. On closer inspection I can see that it has previously had membrane/gravel put down and the grass has fully grown over the whole area. The person that is laying the gravel has said he can cut the grass then put membrane and gravel over the top leaving the old stuff down. I'm unsure if this will work?. Any advice would be great

Hi Jade - Grass needs light to thrive and you would be excluding it so, in theory, it should be fine, providing the membranes's heavy duty and you have a good thick layer of gravel
However, I'd be inclined to kill off the grass with a weedkiller just to make sure, and to give yourself a better chance.
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
kill off the grass?
If you can get hold of some big old card boxes from a local shop or business then you could lay these down underneath the membrane which would definitely exclude light to the grass below. Once the gravels down on top there should be no way that the grass survive.
Cheaper than carpet bombing with chemicals.
