Bulbs and how to find tnem?

HI there,

Has any any simple and tidy ideas on how best to loacte bulbs already planted when putting in new plants, or bulbs.

I guess lifting bulbs in autumn should be straingt forward as they will have some leaf, but when putting in new bulbs for spring / summer I often end up removing old ones that I probably wanted.

Many thanks paul

A good tip is to make a little cage of chicken wire or something similar to place over an existing patch of bulbs Paul. Other plants will grow round and disguise it.

I'm not usually that organised though, so I often have the same result as nut and fidget....image

I'm of the "fork through" brigade - I try and divide and propogate as many other plants to offset the cost of having to buy a few fresh replacement bulbs every year.

I decided a while back to plant all my bulbs in pots. That way they don't clutter up my flowerbeds with their dying leaves and I can't keep forgetting where they are. I may do the same with summer flowering bulbs also. Pots can be moved when they are not looking great unlike flower beds.

You can even plant in pots and then plant the pots into your bed. Once they go over just pull out the pot and tuck them away somewhere sunny and out of view to die down naturally.
