Parsnips

Hello

I tried Parsnips last year in situ but none germinated- they were fresh seed. I tried them a couple of weeks ago, in the house in compost in an unheated propagator, nothing as of yet. Out of curiosity I put some seeds in a sealed bag in the airing cupboard last wee, just looked at them and they have about 5cm roots on them. Anyone know if ive left them too long and the roots have grown to large to then put in soil?

I'd give it a go - you won't have lost anything by trying to plant them.

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Might be a bit too late with roots that long but why not plant them anyway and start some more the same way, this time planting them as soon as you see any sign of life? image

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

Good idea! I was looking at them everyday for the first few days, forgot over the last few days and whoosh! I might plant them in the degradable pots with the bottom cut off so I can keep them on the window ledge, its very soggy in Widnes at the moment.
