Sad looking Nandina Domestica

Hey folks

We planted a beautiful Nandina in our front garden in early September - here's how it looked at the time

Fast forward a few months and it's looking rather sorry for itself, very spindly and lost loads of 'volume', as you can see:

I'm hoping this is just down to a combination of exposed location, a windy winter and stuff, can anyone please advise? Will it recover in the spring and summer?

Newbie gardener so kind of learning by doing (often badly) at the moment! image

For comparison, here is one that was planted in our back garden in October, which still looks lovely, it's in a much more sheltered location (this photo was taken today)

Thanks Verdun, kind of what I assumed. We knew even less than we know now when it was first planted, so will try and find a more sheltered location for it and hope it can be saved!

Verdun - I don't have a suitable sheltered location for it anywhere else in the borders - would it do well in a container? I can offer it a nice sheltered location on my deck if it's suitable to be potted!

    Thanks
