Reusing soil from ivy removal

Hi all -

I've got a long bank in my garden which was covered in ivy. I have removed the ivy but need to remove the bank itself as I am levelling out the part of the garden where it sits. I could shift the entire lot of the dirt I remove to a large skip (will probably be  near enough to fill it) which seems a waste, and I was considering keeping the soil and mixing it in with the compost from my bin (I've got quite a bit) to reuse it. I'm worried however that the soil has ivy left in it and could cause it to regrow. Is there a way of letting the soil sit with some sort of weedkiller/lime etc to remove any traces or is it best to get rid of it all and start fresh? Thanks!

Young ivy is easy enough to weed out .
