I always chuck them on the compost heap and they have no adverse affect on the finished product.
Thank you very much appreciated
hi wombat if you cut leaves small put in large bin with lid stir often in a few months you will have a bug spraying liquid strain water through a nylon pop sock to stop leaves spray on veg keeps all flys black red and green ( and yes they can be put on compost heap) will be using rhubarb this w/end so will use leaves for this yrs spray
The large leaves make good slug traps. Leave them on the ground the day you cut them and the next morning you'll find slugs lurking in their shelter to be disposed of as you wish. Then the leaves can go to the compost heap.
I put slugs and snails in my compost bins (some live in there anyway.) They are happy there and stay off the garden. Never had them breed in there. Probably because it is turned so often.
