Moving plants this summer

Hi guys Around June this year we'll be moving house and there is a few plants from our garden id like to take; A bleeding heart A couple of lupins A rhododendron shrub Ornamental lillies A young but rapidly grown honeysuckle All the above are fairly young plants (planted within the last couple of years and a year or so old when I planted them). My main worry is moving them during this period as they'll all be actively growing. Is there a safe way to move these plants or is it kinder to leave them where they are? Any advice gratefully received

Honeysuckle- I'd take multiple cuttings and leave the plant , cuttings take easily.

The herbaceous stuff are all easy enough to move.

The rhody not so much, but it sounds small enough.
  • That's fab thank you!

If they're in the ground, you can't take them unless you've stated in the terms of the sale that you're doing so. It's regarded as a fixture. If in pots, they're moveable.

I'd discuss it with your lawyer first,  take cuttings/divisions, or buy new ones for the new garden.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

I would part dig up  all the herbaceous stuff now and pot them up....that way you leave some and don't fall foul of the legalities and have nice potted plants to take with you.....that's what I did when I moved a few years ago. I would do it now and not in June.   Honeysuckle; sometimes there are layered rooted bits you could dig up, have a look.  Otherwise easy to take cuttings, as has been said.

Based in Sussex, I garden to encourage as many birds to my garden as possible.
  • Thanks guys! Very helpful tips there, I've contacted the solicitor and as we haven't yet filled in the 'to be left' sheet of you like then we'd be able to take them if we potted them up now, any time after that then we'd be in trouble

Thanks again for being so helpful
