  • Do hostas need shade for better growth or can they be happy in sun? I want to plant them to cast shade on a pond if possible

    Your Hosta should thrive - the bed looks much comfier than that pot they're in at the moment. 

    They're generally pretty tough - one of mine got ran over with the lawnmower when it was poking up through the soil. Made no difference whatsoever in the long run and it grew so well that summer I divided it into 4 good size plants the following spring.
