Tulip flower shriveled before bloom

Hello. I bought a potted tulip from store last 2 weeks hoping that it will bloom very soon as I saw there are flower buds coming out. I kept them indoor and watered them twice a week. Today, when I checked on my plant, the flower bud shriveled before it gets to bloom. Does anyone have any suggestions on what is causing this? There is little shoots from the bulb too. Will they grow again if I cut the current stalks? This is my first potted tulip plants. . Hope they can be saved. Your advice and help is very much appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry that the picture cant be rotated.

I think they'd have preferred to be outside.
