Heavy lifting

PosyPosy Posts: 3,601

I like to grow half hardies in containers: they spend the warmer months on a sunny patio and the cold ones in my modest sized greenhouse. They are tiny when I buy them but they grow like Topsy and before long they have to move into my largest containers. The containers have to be pot or weighted plastic because mine is a windy site. And that's the problem. I have the body of a weak and feeble woman - albeit overlarge - and I cannot lift them onto the staging or down from the staging or onto my little trolley to take them to their summer and winter quarters. Even my husband is struggling, now, and I don't want to injure him! Is there any device or technique that could help with this? What do other people do? Any suggestions gratefully received.

Wheeled pot stands is the solution that came to mind for me too.

Ooh, Pansyface, that's fantastic but I'll have to win the lottery first. Wheeled pot stands are OK once the pots are at ground level but how would I get the pots up on to or down from the staging? You might be right, Welshonion, more teamwork. It's me, not him, I like to be independent! Thanks for all the ideas!

Oh, I see what you mean about tea trolleys. Would they be strong enough, I wonder. I haven't seen wheeled pot stands but I will have a look now.

I use a sack truck for big pot transport. I've stopped attempting to lift them onto a bench. They stay on the floor since I dropped a big expensive one.
