Seed Germination Time?
Ive had a greenhouse now for about 3 years. Ive always bought all my toms, cucumbers, chillis, etc as plants. This year i decided to do it all from seed. I planted all my seeds out about 2 weeks ago in the greenhouse as it is pretty watm in there now, but so far i have had nothing come up? Ive planted broad and runner beans out already straight in the ground, and these are already about 4 inchs. Am i being impatiant? Will they come when its a bit warmer?

Most of those need consistent warmth to germinate and grow.
I'd say its still too cold unless the GH is heated overnight.
I would sow new seed, indoors, and not move the seedlings out to the greenhouse until towards the end of May.

This is the first year I've used a heated windowsill propagator (about £30 on Amazon) rather than just using covered half-sized seed trays on the dining room windowsill.
The improvement in germination time has to be seen to be believed. Tomatoes and sweetcorn took only 3 days before seed leaves appeared.

I haven't got space for a greenhouse but my husband has said he will make me a glorified porch at the back of the house. I'm getting ahead of myself because it won't be ready for seeds this year but I was thinking of buying some kind of heated matting to go the full length of a shelf under the seed trays. Is such a thing available? any recommendations?
You want what I've got - a heated windowsill propagator
See my post above - and today, the Pattypan squashes have appeared four days after sowing

Germination is very quick. Usually 3 days .
Thanks Smiffy3 that sounds just the thing as I already have seed trays
