Aucuba - can / how can I cut it back hard?

Hi. I've a very neglected part of the garden that I'm trying to find time to tackle. In there are two mature aucubas. They are very large and leggy. Would these cope with being cut back to a few feet? If not, then I think they'll have to come out. Any tips?

Just give em a feed after
You certainly can cut them back hard. I used to prune mine with a hedge trimmer!
