what are they ?

i've just put down some leafmold as a mulch and suddenly dozens of ginger coloured bee-like flying insects have decended on it. anyone know what they are, are they friendly, should i be concerned ?

    Never be concerned, we don't really have anything dangerous. Might be tree bumblebees, warming up, they're gingerishimage

    those flies which gather on cow poo and gingerish in colour too. We get lots of them around.

    Yes, I get those too Hosta.  Every time I make a batch of comfrey feed and strain off the fibrous stuff, it get covered in them within seconds.  Never see them otherwise!

    They're dung flies around horse s**t. I don't see them otherwise.
