fungi identification please

Several fungi/toadstool have appeared in both front and back lawn. Can anyone put a name to them?  the cap is very dark brown and the biggest at 1.5 ins diameter, the gills are dark brown and the stem is brown and they stand about 1.5 ins above the grass. Sorry, I can't supply a photo.  I've searched several websites but can't find them!  Help appreciated,  Thank you, Mags

    There are hundreds of possiblities mags.  Foragers refer to them as LBMs (little brown mushrooms) almost all of which are inedible.  They'll be gone in a few days.

    A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

    I'm not worried about them - just curious as I've never seen these ones.  I wouldn't dream of eating them, and would put on rubber gloves to handle them.  Mags
