Have any of you had a Australia holiday. If so could you recomend. a travel company who does good deals. Flights and hotel all included. Sorry the topics not about gardening. I can always rely on you folks for sound advise, thank you
We organised our own as we were visiting friends in Manley Heights and Canberra but also wanted to see a bit of Queensland, Barrier Reef, Uluru, Alice Springs and Adelaide. We did the Ghan train between those last two which was fun but expensive given that its a lot of bare earth and one lone tree full of parakeets and with cattle in its shade looks the same as the next and there's a lot of just that between the two places but not much else.
Depends what you want to see and how long you've got.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
It depends on what you want to see. Gardens, botanic gardens, beaches, cities, outback, natural wonders, etc, etc. I live in the south east corner of NSW but have lived in Darwin, Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne. I'm happy to suggest sites, but need to know what you like.
I found that if you book the basics, ie, flights, hotel , and visa, then local tours can all be booked when you get there, all hotels will have a tour desk, even backpackers hostels. Also there are laundrette rooms in many hotels, so you can easily wash stuff through if you are travelling light. I tend to travel heavy, with dive gear and camera gear, but few clothes, more or less stuffed in around other stuff. Toiletries are the same brands you would buy here, supermarkets like Coles very much like Morrison's. Don't forget your driving licence if you plan on car hire, although public transport is very organised and linked up.
What a response, thank you very much. I think our holiday is soley going to be based in Sydney.I'm traveling with my Daughter. And i think she would only want to dwell in the city. Me it would have to be Mixing it with Great whites and visting Salties in their own natural enviroment. That would be a dream come true.
Finances are my problem. Do you think Three grand for the two of us.for travel and hotel. Going sometime during july would be enough to pay for flights and hotel. Staying for 2weeks
If you can go before the kids break up for school (round here the last day is 22nd July this year), you'll notice a huge difference in flight prices.
We went on our Honeymoon. Sydney is expensive, but very cool. It very much depends on what sort of accommodation you want. We stayed with friends outside the centre, but there are backpack places, laterooms.com, etc.
Renting a self-catering apartment might work out cheaper if you're there for a while?
We drove up to Sydney from Melbourne, via Canberra, which I wouldn't necessarily recommend, then got a train from Sydney to NSW (we went 1st class, but at least on that route, not worth the extra), then from there drove up the Sunshine Coast and stayed in no-frills hotels, but for a treat at the end, got a lastminute.com deal in a 5-star hotel for a couple of nights.
Hi musher, there are a couple of travelodge in Sydney. They are much more luxurious than our ones, and generally have a small kitchen area in the rooms with sink, microwave and a fridge from what I recall! & have a booklet with all the restaurant/take away outlets that you can call for a delivery to your hotel. Our daughter lives in Queensland and we've stayed in Sydney for a couple of days before flying up to her. Local transport is good and you can get ferries over to other parts from Circular Quays and the train station is also there. We mainly fly Emirates although tried Singapore Airlines last year as they were a bit cheaper when we came to book. Happy holidays!
Ooh, yes, you can 'get the ferry, 'cross to Manley' (to be sung to a popular tune) from Sydney for the day. Not on a bank holiday though, as they charge a 'bank holiday tax' - not just to the tourists, it's a real thing.
There are some amazing gardens out that way, the ferry goes past all the celeb estates (if that floats your boat).
We flew with Singapore and they were fantastic. Worth exploring Singapore too, if you have time, it's an amazing place.
We climbed the Sydney harbour bridge. The view is to die for. I advise plenty of nurofen if you do, the backs of my calfs were kiling me next day. We also went to the aquarium in sydney and did a car tour of the blue mountains. The botanic gardens in the Blue mountains has Wollemi pines.

I always use Traillfinders, and fly on Emirates flights, as we had a bad experience with BA at Bangkok airport on the way back once.
We book our own visas online. They are free if you have a UK passport and no criminal record. Make sure you have the right site, some will charge.
