Get them in trenches with plenty of muck under and around them. A handful of fresh grass cuttings per plant too, if you have them, as it discourages scab. We have 2nd earlies (Charlotte) in, and one bed of maincrop (Victoria); should have planted the last bed today but the soil was too wet - the trench started filling with water as soon as I started digging!
you can also plant in large containers or old compost bags which can be turned inside out (so the black surface is on the outside) and make some holes in the bottom for drainage
, i keep these in my cold greenhouse until May
Thanks yes they are 2nd earlies the ones I have got, and have 4 potatoes bags in green house started now, so will check soil then get them in if weather okay. Thank you . I will raid my next door grass as I have none to put them in with them. Thank you All.
