hollie - exactly. Seeds are tiny and only need a little dampness, they can't cope with any more than that. It's very easy to overwater unfortunately. If the compost's dry before sowing, it's best to water it, then leave it to fully drain and dry out a little.
As you say, if it gets dry on the surface a little spray is better than a soak!
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
