Making the gardening magazine

image

I took this picture of a beetle, and entered it in the amateur gardening magazine. And I was astounded to see that it made pic of the week, and was put into their magazine.

Gorgeous photo. Is it a rosemary leaf beetle?

  • Beautiful picture! Congrats to you. image

  • Thanks everyone, as Ceres said it is a Rosemary beetle Hazel. I have never seen one before and had to look it up to see what it actually was. Just to warn you passionate gardeners, that although it looks lovely, it attacks your plants. The adult beetle and larvae feed on foliage and flowers. They are known to attack lavender, sage and thyme.

  • I heard yesterday that the picture that I took of the Rosemary Beetle has also made the Garden and Answers magazine that comes out next week. That was a lovely surprise.

I was sent a £20 voucher for having a "tip" appear in GW magazine a few years back.

    Devon.
  • That must have been lovely for you Hostafan1.

I know when I first entered my picture to the amateur gardening mag, I never expected to hear anything. I too got a voucher for £10 and a book as well. I was really elated to see that it made pic of the week as well.

We all love our gardens and the creatures that come to visit it. So I was really pleased that I was able to capture a picture of the Rosemary Beetle just with my phone.

Its gorgeous, where on earth did you find it? Hoh, found out to my cost this week, those darn lilly beetles also love crown imperials!
