Newbie gardener requiring climbing rose advice!!!

Hi there, I'm new to the forum and gardenin in general, sorry if there is already a thread regarding this subject! I'm planning on planting some climbing roses up the front wall of my house, however, due to annoying flower bed placement, I will have to grow it in a container. The roses I have bought DO say they can be grown in a planter, but I have no idea what sort of size I should be looking at?! Could anyone help me with measurements that will allow the roses adequate space? Thanks in advance!

  • I thought they sounded lovely too image! I feel I could definitely remember to water them everyday, my lifestyle isn't too hectic. Yep, wall gets full sun image
  • So...might it be possible to use plastic containers, placed inside a wooden planter perhaps? My partner actually spoke about making a wooden planter, then lining it with a plastic material? Thank you for all your help!
  • I am also new to gardening and have planted a climbing rose in a pot against an old outhouse but had to cut it back severely due to black spot - but now is thriving. I have it in a terracotta container so it needs loads of watering. But wish I had thought of planting in a square container!
  • Glad to hear you're having some success - gives me some hope! Haha! Is rehousing it not an option? I'm struggling to find a container that will be large enough at the moment - not one without a hefty price tag anyway!
